The daredevils in your family will love the heart-stopping drops of the seven-story-tall Wild Rivers Mountain. But if a lazy inner tube ride down a placid river is more your speed, check out Explorers’ Island instead. Lots of kids activities, too.
Wild Rivers Water Park is Southern California’s premier water park, featuring over 40 water rides and attractions, two massive wave pools, and loads of areas for kids and adults to veg out and get some sun! It’s a great place to chill out after a long day in the California Sun. Lazy rivers, wild mountains, wave-riding thrills, wading pools, and inner tube rides—Wild Rivers Water Park has a lot to offer the sweaty traveler on a hot summer day. Here’s a preview of the refreshing rides and attractions featured at this exciting park:
Buccaneer Bay: An interactive children’s area featuring a 45-foot pirate ship.
Lake Victoria: A play pool with slides for racing down on mats, and “funball”, which is basketball, with a twist.
Pygmy Pond: A shallow pool made fun by Tipping Tree Frogs, Gorilla Swing, and an Elephant Slide.
Sweitzer Falls: A simulation of riding a barrel down Niagara Falls, dropping you into an eight-foot splash pool.
The Cobras: A Wild Rivers classic! This body-slide twists and turns before shooting you out into a landing pool.
Congo River Rapids: Rush down the side of Wild River Mountains on a man-made white water river ride, deemed the best of its kind west of the Colorado River! Travel 500 feet in a double or single tube.
The Abyss: A 655-foot, completely dark and wild ride with a 50-foot vertical drop to be taken in a single or double inner tube…this is the longest ride at the park!
Serengeti Surf Hill: Race your friends down seven soft foam lanes the length of a football field.
Bazooka Bowls: A heart-thumping ride the launches you from a 4-story platform into the barrel of the Bazooka Tube, then plunges you 3 feet into a 9-foot pool beneath.
Monsoon Lagoon: An awesome wave pool perfect for bodysurfing, inner tubing, swimming, and cooling off.
Mombasa Hot Springs: A relaxing place for adults—this features two giant sized jacuzzi pools.
Safari River Expedition: A quarter-mile lazy river ride around Explorers Island.
Wild Rivers Water Park also recommends the African Queen Picnic Area for people wanting to sit in the shade and enjoy some refreshments, as well as the Outer Picnic Area for people who packed their own food and drinks (no outside food or drinks allowed in the park). There are numerous cabanas throughout the park and chairs for tanning or for those who want to relax with a book while the kids play. Trader Robbie’s Safari Outfitters sells swimsuits, towels, sunscreen and other necessaries, in addition to souvenirs. There are several eateries at Wild Rivers, including Clayton Shurley’s Texas BBQ, and the usual ice cream and drink vendors. Lockers are available, as well as restrooms, showers, and changing areas.
